Seven Focus Points:

  1. Vision Focus
    • A board member carries an understanding of the purpose and direction of the ministry, and works on his/her ability to articulate that vision to others. The board member takes on a sense of ownership of the vision and feels a divinely instilled burden to help carry it out.

  2. Provide Accountability
    • Hold the operations of the ministry to the standard set by the board of directors to assure the credibility and integrity of Go To Nations.

  3. Solve Problems
    • Board members give their wisdom, moral support, engagement, and interest toward the issues facing the ministry from a board level. They provide expertise that focus on solutions, rather than focusing on the problems themselves.

  4. Promote the Ministry
    • Board members actively look for ways to connect people to the vision of Go To Nations. In this way, each board member becomes an active extension of everything the ministry is involved in.

  5. Participate in Fundraising
    • Each board member starts this process through their own personal giving, and carries on to using their circle of influence to encourage others to become personally involved in giving to Go To Nations. All the board members carry a specific sense of responsibility in the area of helping meet the annual budget of the World Headquarters of Go To Nations.

  6. Giving Time Serving
    • Being a board member will require time by service that is most commonly divided between four main things: 1) attending regularly scheduled board meetings, 2) attending and supporting special fundraising events, 3) serving on a board committee, 4) bringing people to the World Headquarters for special group gatherings or to scheduled luncheon appointments to introduce them to a head of the ministry in their areas.

  7. Recruit New Board Members
    • To assure the ongoing strength and viability of the board, the ongoing recruiting of new board candidates is essential Board members serve as recruiters and evaluators of these new candidates.
