Purpose
The purpose of this standard is to establish and describe the authority, responsibilities and scope of the role of the president.
Reporting Relationship
The president reports to and is accountable to the board of directors.
The president is assisted by the executive assistant and the executive team.
The president must appoint a President’s Member Care Counselor (PMCC). The PMCC shall assess any information regarding the condition of the president that may affect his/her ability to carry out the role, including but limited to:
- Physical
- Emotional
- Spiritual
- Mental
- Financial
- Marital
Annually, as part of the Annual President’s Review, the PMCC shall submit a report to the Governance Committee concerning the well-being of the president as it affects his or her ability to carry out the role of president.
Additionally, any concerns that may affect the president’s ability to perform as president must be reported to the Chairman of the board and chairman of the governance committee. All other content is to remain confidential. The PMCC shall meet with the president at a minimum frequency of once per quarter
This person shall be a current board member, emeritus or former board member, unless otherwise directed by the board.
Authority
- The president derives authority from the board of directors.
- The president serves as a member of the board and a member of all standing committees of the board as needed.
- The president directs the operations of the ministry through the executive vice-presidents.
Functional Role
- Establish the spiritual direction of the ministry in a way that creates a solid theological position and maintain doctrinal balance in agreement with the Articles of Faith of Go To Nations.
- Impart vision to the ministry and establish focus on priorities that perpetuates the role of Go To Nations in completing the Great Commission.
- Plan for the future viability of the ministry and help connect Go To Nations to viable and productive networking relationships.
- Assist the mobilization division in developing a strong financial resource base for corporate operations.
- Stay knowledgeable with world mission movements and major Go To Nations field projects.
- Help increase Go To Nations’s connection and partnership with S. Church leadership and the U.S. body of Christ at large.
Executive Functions
- Set the direction of the ministry to fulfill the mission, vision, and core values of Go To Nations.
- Work with the chairman to develop comprehensive agendas for each board meeting and assist the governance committee in recruiting, evaluating, and training new board candidates.
- Develop and maintain an effective executive team.
- Create a positive and ethical corporate image.
- Maintain financial integrity by controlling financial wellness through budgets, cash management, and comprehensive reporting.
- Direct the establishment of job descriptions for the executive vice-presidents to identify responsibilities and to measure performance.
Reporting
- Submit a president’s report for every board of directors meeting
- Present an audited, annual financial report to the finance committee through the work of the business and finance division.
- Present financial reports to the finance committee three times a year through the work of the business and finance division.
Evaluation
- Receive an annual review by the governance committee of the board of
- Evaluation is based on measuring achievement against the objectives in work plans that are written to fulfill the mission statement.
- Progress in fundraising for corporate long-term viability is an important part of the evaluation protocol.
